Our Story
Momentum for the Arts, Inc. (MFTA) engages youth and young adults through meaningful dance opportunities that build their appreciation for performance arts, improve the presence of diversity in the field of dance, provide an effective and lasting medium for positive physical and mental health, and nurture the next generation of community leaders.
Incorporated in the State of Florida and organized as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, MFTA is a longtime vision of Jamie Perez, the Owner and Artistic Director of Momentum Dance Arts. With a studio presence throughout North Central Florida in Alachua, Tioga, and Lake City, Florida, Jamie realized there was no time like the present to bring her vision of bringing dance to the community, and Momentum for the Arts was born.
Our Programming
Community Classes
Classes are offered within the community free of charge to provide firsthand learning experiences in the study of diverse dance genres.
Scholarships & Stipends
Dancers displaying a financial need or merit are eligible for a one-time grant to cover the cost of dance shoes, classes, convention fees or competition entries.
Dance Equipment
MFTA utilizes portable and reusable dance equipment to conduct off-site dance instruction and complement classes in-studio to elevate dancer technique and comprehension.
Instructor Support
Dance teachers and dance assistants are at the core of all dance programming. MFDA provides ongoing professional development and certifications.

Momentum Dance Arts (MDA) strives to build confidence, discipline, and an appreciation for the arts, one dancer at a time, across its locations in Alachua, Tioga, and Lake City, Florida!
MDA offers excellence in dance education with compassionate diverse, and experienced staff and prides itself on being a safe, positive place for anyone to come and dance. The studio strives to maintain a non-judgmental and all-inclusive environment to ensure there is a place for each and every child within our community to come dance.
